Millions mourn martyrs of Israeli aggression in Tehran

Millions of people gathered in Tehran to honor 60 Iranians killed during 12 days of Israeli attacks.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Tehran witnessed a powerful and emotional scene as thousands gathered for the funeral of the “Martyrs of Iran’s Power.”

Early this morning, citizens from all backgrounds—young and old—marched from Enqelab Square to Azadi Square, carrying the coffins of 60 Iranians killed during 12 days of Israeli attacks.

The atmosphere was filled with sorrow, reflected in collective prayers, emotional chants, and tearful expressions.

The ceremony began at 8 a.m. with the recitation of verse 38 from Surah Hajj: “Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed…” The martyrs included senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, four children, four women, and several media professionals—each remembered as a national hero.

Mourners, inspired by the legacy of Imam Hussein (AS), waved red flags inscribed with “Labbayk Ya Hussein” and held banners with anti-Israel and anti-U.S. slogans. Chants of “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” echoed through the crowd.

Renowned Quran reciter Ahmad Abolghasemi recited verses from the Holy Quran during the ceremony.

A deeply moving moment came when the small coffins of child martyrs were carried—an image that brought many to tears and symbolized the innocence lost in the conflict.

Participants held portraits of the fallen, honoring their sacrifice and vowing that their legacy would live on in Iran’s national memory.

President Masoud Pezeshkian joined the mourners in Enqelab Square, demonstrating unity between the government and the people. Portraits of the martyrs adorned the square’s walls.

Families, including children and teenagers, took part in the procession—reflecting the transmission of values like bravery, sacrifice, and resistance to future generations.

On June 12, Israel launched a large-scale assault on Iranian territory, targeting military and nuclear sites and killing top commanders, scientists, and civilians. The attacks left 628 dead and over 4,800 injured.

In retaliation, Iran’s armed forces launched precision missile strikes on Israeli military and industrial targets, inflicting significant damage.

After 12 days of conflict, Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire under a U.S.-brokered deal to avoid further Iranian retaliation.
